Extra conditioning is important for your hair year round, especially if you have highlights or color. When I suggest a deep conditioning treatment once a week (as I so often do) most of my clients ask me what I recommend and I often suggest something they probably have in their kitchen like coconut or olive oil. I love natural ingredients and mixing something up at home! And while combing some oil through your hair is great, combining a few ingredients can be fantastic!
This is a simple recipe for a homemade conditioner that will add moisture and shine. Honey and olive oil are excellent moisturizers and apple cider vinegar smooths the cuticle of the ahir shaft helping to lock in moisture and smooth the surface of the strand resulting in extra shine and silkiness.
Mix together the following measures:
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Distribute evenly through hair with your hands or with a tint brush (you can roughly separate small sections with the tail end and paint from roots to ends), follow up by combing through your hair to make sure it's thoroughly saturated, pin up and let sit for 30 to 60 minutes. I also suggest putting a plastic cap over your hair (a clean produce bag will work as well) and and then wrapping it with a towel heated in the dryer. After the allotted time rinse thoroughly, shampoo and condition as usual.
